Jason Herndon, Head Coach
Jason Herndon brings decades of experience in competitive marksmanship and coaching to Ten Ring Junior Shooters. A former member of the U.S. National Shooting Team, Jason represented the United States in international competitions, including multiple ISSF World Cup events in 10m Air Pistol and 50m Pistol disciplines.
With a lifelong commitment to shooting sports, Coach Herndon is a certified instructor known for his calm, focused coaching style and deep knowledge of precision rifle technique. He is passionate about developing young shooters into confident, disciplined athletes—both on and off the range.
Under his leadership, Ten Ring Junior Shooters emphasizes safety, fundamentals, and sportsmanship while preparing youth for success in local, regional, and national competitions.

Wes Hale, Assistant Coach
Wes Hale is the assistant rifle and pistol coach at Ten Ring Junior Shooters. He began training in precision rifle 20 years ago at the Hellgate Civilian Shooters Association and was coached by Richard Houldson, Gary Swartz, and Jason Herndon.
He competed in and won numerous state championships as a junior and has also qualified for and won several competitions in rifle at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 2013 he received a bachelor’s in Microbiology from the University of Montana and briefly left shooting sports to co-found the biomedical research and development company Wintermute Biomedical.
Upon his return to shooting sports in 2018, he began coaching junior shooters and has since expanded to coaching adults who are interested in improving their rifle skills as the co-founder of the Ten Ring Biathlon Academy.
